Welcome to the Future!

Welcome to Future: a vintage studio and collective. Located in a Kansas City Crossroads alley, Future is a vintage clothing and white brick wall lover's dream. Future opened its doors in November of 2014, and in the few times I've been in, I've wanted to stay and hang out all day. The shop itself isn't the only inviting aspect of the shop, however. Owner, Lane Leavens, is just that kind of "cool" person - the kind of person that you don't mind admitting that you received a "You have less than twenty dollars in your bank account" email the other day and therefore can't purchase a rad CobraCult necklace - kind of cool.

"The idea for the shop came from a desire to have a studio space to be able to show the vintage and run my online business [Etsy]. I have a website in the works," Lane informed me, "I curate the vintage clothing and then around it, I bring in small-batch creators and emerging artists, and showcase their wears while promoting community through art by way of skill shares and exhibits." A portion of the small-batch creators Lane features are: Moon Rivers Naturals, The Wild Unknown, Amber Eye Ceramics, Convivial Production, Native Line, Brass Tacks KC, and Cobra Cult

Lane sells a large scale of different clothing in both Future, her up-and-coming website, and her Etsy shop. Items range from worn-in Levis and denim jackets to 1960s Prairie Dresses and suede oxfords: every piece one of a kind.

In the future, when you're in need of a unique gift or just craving a classic pair of 501s, be sure to check out Future!

Until next time!

Ice

Hey all! Today I wanted to share a not so weather-appropriate look, but definitely a cool one! I wore one of my favorite Sincerely Jules tees that says "Bisous" on it, and layered a denim jacket over it. I am obsessed with my pants and the waxed-look, along with the moto-like detailing on the knees. Such an unexpected touch! I paired this look with my Converse...because...why not?!

Metallic Touch

I fell head over heels for my new Louie from Essex LA! It automatically stepped up my look to a whole new level. I wanted to go with a fairly neutral look so that my clutch could really shine! This cropped sweater from Urban Outfitters and my all-time favorite jeans from Zara went perfectly with it!
These "Louie" clutches are absolutely the coolest - they are available in two different sizes, 9.5x6 and 12x9. Once you choose your size, you get to choose your zipper, interior, and leather color. In addition, you don't even need to carry a wallet! I just slid my cards and cash into the cardholders. The 9.5x6 holds all of the essentials - cards, keys, sunglasses, lipgloss, and anything else you need on a daily basis! They're the perfect accessory to really change up a look and add a WOW-factor!

Red All Over

I'm such a fan of this oversized red sweater from Urban Outfitters! Generally, I wouldn't splurge on a sweater that isn't a neutral...but hey! A first time for everything! This sweater is REALLY oversized but I layered a white tank underneath due to the big holes in the front. The black ripped jeans and booties went perfectly with the sweater and my brown bag complemented the red sweater flawlessly.

Old School

I felt like an old school ninja wearing this outfit - it was awesome. An all black look can be automatically improved with a jacket and pair of awesome sneakers. The denim jacket and Nike Blazers worked perfectly with the look! I accessorized with my Ray-Bans and UO tote.

Lace Layers

This is definitely one of the most festive outfits I've put together. The cowl-neck sweater is a bit cropped, so for extra detail I layered a lace trim top underneath. I love how the lace peeks out! At first, I was a bit hesitant to order the pants from Zara, for on the website they looked much brighter, and I really wanted a dark burgundy pant. They turned out to be darker than pictured, and they've quickly turned into one of my favorite pairs of pants! They are slightly slouchy, and I am definitely a fan! I paired some simple black booties with the look, along with my tote and some sunglasses.
